Abstract

In the field development process, it is important to analyse the liquid flow rate on the actual situation. On the basis of traditional Arps simulation models including exponential function, hyperbolic function and harmonic function, the authors propose a new model to overcome this problem (taking into account the effect of operational parameters that have not been considered in the classical model) and present the basis for selection of the most suitable model.

The simulation results show that the exponential equation reflects better historical results than the harmonic and hyperbolic equations. The new method proposed by the authors results in a high accuracy of history matching with R2 = 0,93, while the best results using the Arps method for exponential function are only for R2 = 0,85.
