Abstract

Chromatographic fingerprint analysis of crude oil or condensate for correct and quick distinguishing of oil reservoirs, oil types and oil groups is greatly signifi cant in oil and gas exploration and production. At the same time, it allows identifi cation and calculation of the mixture ratios of different oils and oil reservoirs during exploitation, determination of oil compositions and properties, and monitoring of the infiltration of other oil into original oil during production. Via the method of chromatographic fi ngerprint analysis, the authors have confirmed that those new oil structures discovered in 2011 and 2012 by Vietsovpetro (Gau Trang, Bao Trang, Meo Trang and Tho Trang) are completely independent of the Bach Ho and Rong oilfields, which have been exploited so far.
