Abstract

The adsorption of anionic surfactants (alpha olefin sulfonate, linear alkylbenzene sulfonate, branched alpha olefin sulfonate and petroleum sulfonate) onto the sandstone of Bach Ho oil field has been studied by static and dynamic methods. In the continuous flow condition, the dynamic adsorption process was influenced by some factors such as the inaccessible pore volume (IPV) and the desorption by later water flooding, and as a result, the capacity of dynamic adsorption was much lower than that of the static adsorption. Besides, the authors present a simple and reliable spectrophotometric method for determination of the concentration of anion surfactants based on the competition for cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) between the acidic dye methyl orange (MO) and anionic surfactant.
