Abstract

This report covers both the preparation of a new multiporous catalyst and the synthesis of fuel from fuel oil sludge through liquid phase cracking process using the as-synthesised catalyst system. The catalyst is a combination of many components such as-Al2O3, HY, mesoporous HY and mesoporous HZSM-5, in which each component contributes its own porous characteristics and plays an important role in the cracking reactions. All materials are prepared using suitable precursors and templates; after that, they are characterised by a lot of modern analytic techniques such as XRD, SEM, TEM, IR, and TG-DTA. The whole components of the catalyst are pelletised using adhesive substance K-Sil before entering the reaction. The report also studies the optimum conditions for the cracking process.
