Study and application of drilling mud systems which are technically suitable for exploration and production wells in Vietnam
Abstract
Based on simple drilling mud systems (self-created, clay-based), several drilling mud systems with suitable technical and technological specifications have been studied and applied to wells that have complicated geological conditions (such as: clay swelling, mud losses, and eruption, especially at high temperature, etc.), contributing to maximally preserving the natural permeability properties of reservoirs. The paper analyses the advantages and disadvantages of the drilling mud systems which have been used in Vietnam from 1969 to date in the construction of exploration and production wells.
