Study of the influence of water depth on wave drift load acting on offshore floating structures with catenary mooring lines
Abstract
Floating moored structures are widely used in the petroleum industry at different water depths. Permanently moored in the exploitation place, floating structures are subject to wave drift loads (higher order wave loads) causing large displacements and affecting the safety of the facility and equipment. In this article, the author made calculations with the specialised HydroSTAR software of Bureau Veritas (France) to investigate the influence of water depth on the wave drift load acting on the floating structures with catenary mooring lines.
