Lessons learned from well completion practices in Cuu Long basin
Abstract
Cuu Long basin is the area where many discoveries of oil and gas have been made and put into production such as Bach Ho, Rong, Rang Dong, Su Tu Den and Su Tu Vang, etc. The geological characteristics in the area is not very complex. However, some damages have happened during production, especially the migration of reservoir sand and fines into a wellbore, water breakthrough, and paraffin deposition which can shorten the lifetime of a well, increase operating costs, and decrease well profitability.
This paper reviews the current application of well completion technologies in the Cuu Long basin and draws lessons for well completion design and execution and technology application in the future.
